Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday visited flood-affected areas in West Bengal’s Hooghly district, including Pursurah, Arambagh, and Goghat, following continuous rainfall and waterlogging. She began her visit by reaching a flood relief camp where she met affected residents and served them food. She also interacted with the displaced families to understand their needs on the ground.
During the visit, the Chief Minister took a detailed briefing from administrative officials about the current flood situation, the number of people impacted, and the progress of relief operations. She directed officers to ensure timely distribution of relief materials, proper drainage of water, and deployment of health teams in vulnerable areas. She also inquired about shelter arrangements and food availability at relief camps.
Later, Banerjee attended a programme in Kamarpukur. The state government has increased the pace of relief and rehabilitation work in the affected regions. According to officials, thousands of people across Hooghly district have been affected by waterlogging and floods, and efforts are underway to provide them with necessary support and assistance.
